Just a general update.
I started on Alli when it came out and stopped it a couple of days ago.
After 3 days, I had that "special" experience but it was minimal. It wakes you up and makes you  recognize there may be an issue with too much fat. After that I actually became constipated in a minor way. Always feeling like you need to go, but not. No unusual movements or discharges. I even "pressed the limit" to cause a reaction. None.
I did go on a low fat diet, I did not lose any weight I would attribute to Alli.
My bottom line is, why take the drug, risk an "accident", when, for me, the results were zero to none?
By the way, here's my calculation on what should/could happen..........
The rule is no more then 3 pills/day, therefore 3 meals.
No more then 15 grams of fat per meal.
There are 9 calories/gram fat.
Alli may allow you to pass one-half the fat.
3500 calories/pound

3 meals x 15 grams/fat x 9 grams fat/calorie x 1/2 = 202.5 calorie reduction/day
202.5/3500 = 0.0579 pounds averted/day (that's 0.05 pounds, not one-half)
That's an additional pound, at most, every 17.3 days. Is that a diet plan? Just skip the Snickers!!

Actually, from a medical point of view, a loss of 1.5-2.0 a month is probably appropriate. not for most of us though.

Anyway, I gave it a try and it may work for others. I think the real benefit is that you scare yourself into a low fat diet.

I hope this is helpful.

Jim

I wish my experience was as pleasant as yours. I started my plan on a Tuesday. I normally eat a low fat diet to begin with.Wednesday - Friday consisted of the most horrendous nonstop gas I have ever had, along with a bowl movement that resembled a frying pan after you cook 10 pounds of bacon. My body decided to wait until Saturday while I was at The Home Depot to have a "accident " . (By accident I mean that I passed one of those monstrous gas eruptions that makes Alli so pleasant to take)Oh I forgot to mention the OILY DISCHARGE that seems to be never ending.Good thing I only oiled myself twice while in a public place. Needless to say I stopped taking Alli and I have 70 pills for sale.

I guess we are all different. I was disappointed because I thought of it as a magic pill. I think more people have your reaction then mine. I was responding to a guy who had his gall bladder removed and wondered if that was an issue. Maybe without a gall bladder (and I would have no reason to know why) it works less intrusively. The gall bladder produces bile, I think. Don't know the interaction.

I am having a great experience with Alli!  Just bought my refill bottle
and was interviewed by the Pharmacy about my experience.
After finishing the starter kit I had lost 3 1/2 inches off of each thigh
and 3 inches off my hips
As far as side affects, I only had one bad experience.  I was ready
to sit down to dinner, took my capsule, then received an important
phone call and had to leave.  (Never got to eat.)  I had intestinal pain
for about 45 minutes due to not eating after taking the capsule, but I
certainly cannot blame anybody but myself for that!
I think Alli is a God send!

This will be my 3rd week of taking Alli. I haven't loss more than about 3 lbs. It seems like I have to starve in order for Alli to work. I have eaten 3 mini meals a day that contain the right amount of fat grams that are appropriate for me and have taken Alli with each meal, but it seems like I get hungry again after a couple of hours. I was expecting a lot of treatment effects, but was surprised that I didn't experience any (embarassing ones). I experienced a lot of gases, but they barely leave any oily leakage behind. I did have more frequent bathroom visits (but no more than 2 a day). But I felt lighter after those experiences. The Alli program is such a slow process of losing weight. I think if people expect to see results right away, this program is not for them.

Stay off of the scales!!  Use a tape measure and measure waist,
hips, thighs, etc. on a weekly basis.  You'll be amazed!
I have lost 5 inches of of each thigh after just 2 months on Alli!

And if you're hungry after just 2 hours, you are not getting enough protein!

Thank you for the advice Doll. I did notice that my waist was a little smaller. I do believe that the Alli program can change one's lifestyle. I think twice now before having that tempting fried chicken or chinese food. Especially at parties with all those delicious food trays. I control myself by trying a tiny sampling of a couple of the fatty foods and eat more of the food that contains more vegetables and lean meats.
